Mathletes Update

We have had an excellent year!

In February, students in grades 9, 10 & 11 wrote the Pascal, Cayley and Fermat contests. Medals were awarded to the top score in the school and certificates for the top 25% of all students writing the contest. Arman Azroy, Cameron Smith and Matthew Wilson won the medal for the Pascal, Cayley and Fermat contests respectively.  Certificates were awarded to Arman Azroy, Cameron Smith, Euan Hughes, Mackenzie Campbell, Kevin Guo, Connor McAllister, Ria Raut, Matthew Wilson, Shawn Song, Samuel Chan, Asher Hounsell, Daniel Zhang, Zhen Wang and Johnson Lee.  The zone 67 team champion for the Fermat contest is the KCVI team of Matthew Wilson, Shawn Song, and Samuel Chan.

In April, nineteen students, including some grade 9, 10 & 11 students, wrote the Euclid contest, designed for grade 12 students. Matt Wilson won the medal and certificate for top score. Johnson Lee received a certificate for scoring in the top 25% of all students writing this contest.

The Fryer, Galois and Hypatia also took place in April. Arman Azroy, Euan Hughes and Asher Hounsell had the highest KCVI score for the Fryer, Galois and Hypatia, respectively. Certificates were awarded to Arman Azroy, Euan Hughes,  Anannay Sood, Myra Chan, Kevin Guo, Cameron Smith and Asher Hounsell. The zone 67 team champion for the Galois contest is the KCVI team of Euan Hughes,  Anannay Sood, Myra Chan, Kevin Guo and Cameron Smith.

KCVI had 7 teams compete at the 2018 Junior Mathleague competition held in May at Regi. The team of Anannay Sood, Myra Chan, Andy Cai and Kevin Guo placed second in the team competiton.

  In June, a grade 9 and a grade 10 team competed at the QSLMA math challenge. The grade 10 team of Myra Chan, Rick Chai and Cameron Smith placed second.
