Limestone Student Achievers Award
Posted on 05/13/2019

It is my pleasure to introduce Miles Brackenbury, a Grade 12 student at Kingston Collegiate & Vocational Institute, as a recipient of the Limestone Student Achievers Award. Miles has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a level of excellence in his academics, athletics, and the arts. He is an enthusiastic individual who shares his energy with us every day, through morning announcements, special events, and saying “hello” to everyone in the hallway.

Miles has been one of the top achievers in his grade for the past four years, earning marks above 90 per cent throughout his high school career, and he is a recipient of the prestigious Chancellor Scholarship at Queen’s. He is a wonderful role model for all students as he is openly willing to take risks, ask questions and challenge ideas in a respectful way with a growth mindset attitude.

Miles has had many contributions within our extra-curricular programs. He has competed for KCVI in seven different sports, focusing his passion toward running where he will continue to compete for Queen’s University next year.  Miles has also been a member of the athletic association, being the key person for re-establishing a strong intramural program for our students and organizing our annual Terry Fox Run. He is also well known for his tremendous school spirit and is often called upon to lead our student body in our school cheer when a boost is needed.

Miles has also been an active person in the KCVI drama and music programs, as a member of our concert band and choir, and three of our musical productions. Most recently, he performed  in our drama production Chicago this spring in the role of Amos Hart, where he received great reviews. His fun-loving nature was a perfect fit for this character.

Miles is an open, passionate and caring individual who sees the best in all of us, and goes out of his way to make everyone else’s life better. His kind and welcoming nature has brought such a positive vibe to our school community. He reaches out to support students from all types of backgrounds, treating everyone with respect. His involvement in our Link Crew and leadership program, and his volunteer work in our community, have had such a positive impact on people around him.

Miles Brackenbury is a most worthy recipient of this award. Congratulations Miles, we are very proud of you. Thank you for your amazing contributions to our KCVI community.  You will be greatly missed!

The Limestone District School Board is proud to honour Mile Brackenbury with a Limestone Student Achievers Award.
