  • Hello grade 11 and 12 leadership class students! Just a reminder that grade 11s have class in room 225 and grade 12s in the auditorium.


  • Knitting club will meet today in room 118. Supplies have been bought so come out and cast on your first project!


  • The first Art Club meeting is coming up on Tuesday this week. New Art Club members are welcome. Meet after school in room 222.


  • For all graduates, scholarship information is now being posted on the board in Student Services. The first big one is the Loran Scholarship. The school can endorse 3 applicants and you could receive up to $100, 000. See Mr. Lynn if you have any questions. 


  • Do you like cooking? Are you interested in learning about international issues? Join the cooking club and expose yourself to a variety of foods and people. More information on the sign up sheet outside the office.


  • Interested in making people laugh?  Are you a fan of improv? If you answered yes to that, then come on down to the EST on September 20th for the improv clubs first meeting 


  • Attention all interested Musicians! Musician ensemble season is in session.  Listen up - it is not too late to join. Monday - CHOIR @ lunch. Tuesday - Concert Band 7 am Music Council every other week opposite Musician Guild.  Pit Band 2:30 -4:00, Thursday - Concert Band 7 am and Jazz Band 2:30 -4:00. And finally Friday - Jr. Band at lunch on Friday.  


  • Returning DECA students can pick up a registration package from the main office.  Returning members must also register online and select a category. There are a limited number of flights per event, so it’s first come, first serve.


  • Any grade 9 students looking to join the DECA club should attend the general info meeting on Monday the 16th (today) during lunch in room 319.  The first official meeting will be held after school on Thursday the 19th in room 319, which all members are expected to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!

  • Ultimate Frisbee tryouts for the development teams begin today on Tindall Field at lunch.  New players are welcome.


  • All girls interested in playing in a development league there is a very quick meeting today at lunch in the Health room 32.


  • The junior girls basketball team started their season off strong with a 3 to 1 weekend play.  Amazing team effort and sportsmanship by all. These ladies will be exciting to watch. Thank you to the KC fans Friday for cheering the team on.

  • Applications for the Deputy Treasurer for Student’s Association are now available in the main office. Applications are due Wednesday, Sept 11. See Ms Ford if you have questions.


  • Attention Grade 9s! If you are interested in being in our Student’s Association, Grade 9 Rep Nomination forms are ready for Pick-up. All forms are due to the main office on Wednesday September 11 at 2:40 pm.  See Ms. Ford if you have questions.


  • Thursday September 12th is Picture Day!   Wear your best smile!


  • Creative Writing Club will be held on Tuesdays at lunch hour in Portable 1.  Are you planning on pursuing post-secondary studies after high school? Do you have a personal statement of experience or essay to write as part of your application?  Would you like an hour each week especially designed to help you to improve your writing skills in preparation for your application process? If you answered yes to any of these questions, KCVI writing club is for you!  This is for all KCVI students! This year, KCVI’s creative writing club will feature a semester-long focus on prose non-fiction in an effort to support strong writing samples from KCVI students on their college and university applications.

  • Jr. Football Tryouts begin Tuesday September 3rd and run through Tuesday September 20th.  Meet Mr. Watt in the hallway outside of the Phys-Ed office at 3:10 each day the first week of school to sign up and get permission and other important information.  Wear running shoes, shorts and a T-Shirt if you have one but they are not necessary to start. Sr. Football is in full swing and off to a great start. If you are looking to try out for the team there is still a limited amount of time to do so.  Please see Mr. Watt in the Phys. Ed. office for information and to get permission forms and equipment.


  • Attention all interested Musicians!  Today begins our 2019/2020 Music ensemble season!  The KCVI choir will meet today at lunch Monday, tomorrow and Thursday morning.  Our Concert Band will meet 7:00 am in the music room. Our Music Council will meet at lunch on Tuesdays and our Junior Band will meet this year at lunch on Fridays. Get involved in MUSIC at KCVI.

  • The first gathering of the Environment Club/Sweet Grass Circle is this Tuesday at lunch time in Room 112.  New members are always welcome. If you have a love for wild spaces and wild species, please come out. Bring your lunch and your ideas for positive change.


  • If you are interested in playing recreational or competitive Badminton this year….join the squad by attending a very brief info session this Wednesday at lunch time in Room 112.  Watch the TV screen in the main foyer for updates on clubs, teams and volunteer opportunities!


  • Blood Club!  The first outing for KC’s illustrious Blood Club is this Wednesday after school and we need 10 donors to fill our slot.  Please sign up on the science office door if you would like to save a few lives this week. See Mr. Saunders if you have questions.


  • All girls interested in developing their basketball skills are invited to come play and meet new people on Wednesday at lunch in the main Gym.  See Ms. Evans in Phys. Ed Office if you have any questions.


  • Athletics Association meeting tomorrow at lunch in room 32!  The meeting is open to anyone interested in a general member position.  Application forms will be available at the meeting or outside the Phys. Ed. Office.


  • Today is Recycling day.  If your bluebox and/or grey bin needs emptying please have a volunteer bring them to the recycling centre (at the bottom of the parking lot stairwell near the bookroom) to separate their recyclables.

  • Hey KC- want to get involved with KCVI’s very last yearbook!  Come find out what’s involved at the first yearbook meeting today (Wednesday) at lunch in room 325.  We need photographers and people who want to make pages!

 

  • Students’ Association would like to thank all candidates who ran for Grade 9 Rep & Deputy Treasurer.  We’d also like to congratulate Samuel Zhang & David Cai - our new grade 9 reps, and Arjun Devnani our new deputy Treasurer.

  • Have you found the sharing shelf?  In the main office beside Ms. Connelly and Mr. Gibson’s office there’s a shelf that could make all your dreams come true!  If you’re looking for paper, binders, writing implements, hanging folders, locker supplies (etc). Check the shelf & help yourself!  If you have school supplies to donate. You can do that too!

 

  • Next Wednesday September 25th, our Girls Basketball league will start at lunch.  All girls are welcome to work on their basketball skills and have some fun! Bring a friend and let’s play some ball!  Wednesdays at lunch!

  • Do you like rainbows?  Do you believe that love is love and that people should be comfortable to be who they are?  Come to room 324 at lunch on Friday to check out KCVI’s New and Improved GSA. Everyone is welcome and lunch will be provided.  We hope to see you there!  


  • The cross country team had their first meet yesterday at the prestigious Trinity College race in Port Hope.  The novice girls started the day by winning the gold medal finishing 2nd, 4th, 6th and 11th out of 70 runners.  Other notable mentions were Claire Brackenbury 5th in the jr. girls event while Owen Danby 5th in the novice boys race.
