Eventbrite - KCVI turns 225

Kingston Collegiate & Vocational Institute (KCVI) will recognize its 225 milestone birthday this fall with a reunion weekend and host of celebratory events.

The reunion weekend, which runs from September 28 to October 1, 2017, will provide an opportunity for current students and staff, alumni and the downtown community to reminisce and celebrate the tradition of excellence in athletics, arts and activities at KCVI.

“The KCVI Turns 225 Committee has been working diligently to put together a dynamic weekend of events,” says KCVI Principal Talya McKenna. “There are more than a dozen feature events to allow anyone connected to KCVI – present or past – to celebrate our school’s impressive history and legacy.”

Some of the weekend’s highlights include an open house, coffee house/wine and cheese, drama festival, athletics celebration and a fun run. The main event will be the KCVI Gala & Talent Show at the Rogers KROCK Centre featuring many KCVI alumni talents introduced by former KCVI student leaders. The evening also includes drinks, tapas and a silent auction fundraiser for the KCVI Legacy Fund. The weekend will be rounded out by various alumni reunions scheduled by different graduating years at local bars and restaurants.

Events are being planned by the KCVI Turns 225 Committee, a volunteer committee of current and former KCVI staff. Registration for all events will be online via Eventbrite. “We are asking anyone intending to attend even one event to register via the online registration tool called Eventbrite,” says committee member Helena Huskilson, who currently works in Student Services at KCVI. “This tool will help us to promote our events, manage attendance, and collect admission fees where applicable. It will also allow us to provide attendees with ongoing updates as we add or amend various events.”
